Dr. Simon Lawrence

Biography

Dr Simon Lawrence obtained his BSc and PhD from the University of Durham. He spent a year as a post-doctoral research associate at University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology followed by a year as a post-doctoral research associate at Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine, before joining the staff at UCC in 1994.

His research interests are in the understanding of the organic solid state where he leads a group investigating issues such as crystal engineering, crystallisation, polymorphism, co-crystallisation and crystal growth. He was Chair of the COST Action CM4102 “From molecules to crystals – how do organic molecules form crystals? (Crystallize)” which ran from 2015 -2018. He has been a member of the SSPC since its inception.
