Laurie graduated from the University of Limerick with a degree in Science Education, and is currently studying a PhD in the Science Outreach area. Prior to working with SSPC Laurie was based in Science Foundation Ireland where she was the lead Executive for National Science Week 2018, and project coordinator for many Discover funded projects. Laurie has a vast amount of experience ranging from working on EU Science Education projects to teaching in Irish post-primary schools. She has worked with many groups of people including pupils, public, teachers and researchers. Laurie was the coordinator for the UL Science Magic shows across Munster throughout her time as a PhD students. In her current role, she is in charge of multiple Education and Public Engagement (EPE) activities carried out by the centre. Such activities include teaching and hosting workshops for visiting primary and secondary students, conducting public lectures and developing content for audiences of all ages and abilities.
