With the increasing number of drugs emerging from discovery that display poor solubility, there is a need to explore the use of bio-enabling formulation approaches to improve oral bioavailability. Lipid based formulation are one such bio-enabling formulation technology, that exploit the benefit of lipid excipients at harnessing the absorption pathways of dietary fats, leading to increased intestinal drug solubility and improving intestinal absorption.
The focus of this talk will be to provide an update the emerging trends in Lipid based formulation design, with an emphasis on the use of modelling tools and decision trees to guide industry on optimising formulation design.
