SSPC are delighted to announce a partnership with the Waterford operations of global biopharmaceutical company Sanofi. The company’s state-of-the-art Waterford facility is one of the most diverse in Ireland with four platforms – lyophilisation; oral dose, Auto Injector and Pre-Filled Syringe – on one campus. It is a key strategic launch site and one of just six designated ‘Digital Lighthouses’ within the Sanofi Industrial Affairs network of 75 sites.
Sean Cullen, MSAT Manager for Sanofi Waterford, in speaking of the membership in SSPC said that: “Through our partnership with the SSPC, we aim to develop a stronger understanding of contributing factors to protein instability. Due to the complex and costly nature of bio-therapeutic drug manufacturing, problems with formulation and protein instability have a significant impact on the manufacturing process. The development of advanced formulation technologies with the help of SSPC will lead to improved quality and cost efficiencies.”
Sanofi’s membership of the Centre will also provide access to highly-skilled researchers working in relevant disciplines. The company which has already recruited many SSPC graduates will actively participate in developing new talent for the sector and upskill existing talent while advancing understanding in key industrially-relevant research areas.
